Express your artistic side with easy to use painting and drawing tools that work just like the real thing!

ArtRage packs a powerful physical paint simulation into a creative experience that lets users of all skill levels explore natural painting on the iPhone.

ArtRage doesnt just place color on a canvas, it keeps track of how much paint there is and how wet it is, so you can blend colors under the brush as you paint without changing to a blending tool, or lay down thick lines of pigment for flattening and smearing with the Palette Knife.

Canvas grain affects the look of your strokes, and drier pigments break up on the surface to create textured effects. Its not just a special effect, its a live simulation of the properties of real paint.

Add Layers to your painting to work on individual elements without damaging others. Import photos to smear around like oil paint, or as Tracing Images that are overlaid on the canvas, and have ArtRage select colors from them automatically as you paint.

The interface has been designed specifically for the iPhone, compacted to maximize your creative space without hiding away critical functions such as tool and color selection. As you paint, controls get out of the way so that you don’t have to stop and manually adjust panels. With support for Multi-Touch gestures, important shortcuts are available without needing any interface.

Pros and cons of ArtRage for iPhone app for iPhone and iPad

ArtRage for iPhone app good for

This is the first painting app Ive seen on iOS that actually simulates real paint. You can brush it on, or squeeze it directly from a tube, and then push it around and blend it with brushes or a palette knife. The UI is a little bit weird, but theres a built-in manual that explains all the gestures — be sure to check that out. The weirdest thing is trying to rename your files; you have to swipe left or right on a file (which usually means delete…not a good choice for an iOS app) to rename it.
Easy to use, texture effect is great, colors blend naturally. Well thought of and real fun. Highly recommended.
This is so much more realistic than some of the alternatives, Id recommend it :D
V1.0 The saving problem has been fixed with the new patch. Thank you very much Now I can save properly my pieces of art on my iPod touch. :)
I have every serious painting app for iPhone/iPod and this is the best. It is the only app that actually simulates the look and blending of real paint (plus pencil etc.). Even colleagues who teach painting have mistaken my paintings done with this app and posted online for photos of actually oils.
A little laggy, but overall the best drawing app ever. A few things to fix, the lagginess, the saving issues, and the icon. Five stars if that happens. :)

Some bad moments

I paid for the app, and I loved it for the first month or so. Now it crashes ALL the time, I mean I can barely use it for two minutes and then it breaks. Not worth it ):
It keeps crashing well Im droing iv lost five droings all ready !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(:(:(
With all the features this app has, and the cost of the app, the developers gave the minimum possible resolution for canvas size!! Really! Come on.. Its like a slap for what iOS devices r capable of. Even Brushes app has 2480x2480px resolution.
Its pretty much impossible with anything less than an iPad. Over priced and not for the everyday user. Photoshop-y.
It doesnt work for me. When I draw it doesnt come the right colour.
I love the app, great and easy to use, BUT listen. When I zoom in, it just.. zooms right back out. Its really annoying! Its called art RAGE for a reason. :(
